I have just finished writing my first children's book and have been talking to illustrators, other writers, and all types of publishers. The whole process can be very confusing and time consuming. I finally chose to set up my own publishing company and self-publish, and am now ready to have the book printed. My book designer and I have been working with Susan Carter, one of your Customer Service Representatives, to get this children's book ready to be printed. She has been very helpful in this process. While working on this book, I have had contact with many people in the art, literature, and education fields, and some of them have said that they would also like to write a book and had many questions about the process. Because of my research and experiences in setting up a publishing company, I will be willing to help others through this process. I have chosen to use your company to print my first book. If all goes well with this first book, I have several more I hope to write. If some of my contacts choose to write and publish a book, I plan to help them through my publishing company. Would you be interested in future referrals from myself and my publishing company for printing books and other materials?

We're looking for letter size document folders. We'd like for both sides to have pockets and positions for business cards. We'd also like the file folders to have our company name, logo, etc. included.

Thank you,

You're very welcome Megan, and thank you for the kind words. In today's business climate, we can't afford to slack in service. If there's anything else you need, feel free to give us a call. Thanks again!

I just wanted to say thank you for the excellent service you have provided (and continue to provide) our company. From the very start we had a very knowledgable and patient person who helped us tweak our design to get the business card we always wanted at a very fair price.

Sorry about the delay Brian. Your post was sent to a spam folder by mistake.

"Matching a proof" is a subjective statement in general, because all the processes are inherently different (short of an actual press proof.) The inks in an inkjet are not the same inks used in lithography, and the substrates aren't typically the same either.

To answer your first question, no, not really. To run FM screening you have to adhere to a self imposed method, or process, or standard, and to be G7 certified you have to conform to a rigorous set standard as outlined by the certifying body. So, we're much more in control of our processes because we choose to be, and have to be. If you adhere to regular procedures and standards, production becomes more predictable, which yields less surprises/problems throughout the entire process.

We correct printing on press a lot less now than we have in the past. But because color will always be subjective in nature, and is also influenced by many other factors, correcting color is more a matter of economics and client desires, rather than necessity. A cosmetic company for instance, will typically be more demanding than a tech company. How far they want to take the color adjustment depends more on how much they value the marketing piece, and how much they're willing to spend.

We're in the process of implementing an online self-design tool, but we're still several weeks out on deployment. We hope to have some basic templates installed at that time, although templates are complex by nature, and not simple to deploy. If you'd like to take a look at a preliminary version of our design tool, send me an email at; andy(at)professionalprinting(dot)com, and I'll send you a registration link. Keep in mind, we're still working through some of the bugs, and feedback would be appreciated.

Are there problems running FM screening after calibrating to G7 standards? Are proofs matched or is correcting needed occasionally on the job after going to press?
